What about the Philippine Passport Renewal?
This is the question we all Filipinos are asking. As of now the renewal of Philippine passport is not offered in the consulate general in Calgary.
I’ll update this post as soon as I can. (Or you can let me know. I appreciate any tips.)
Good news! Starting July 4, 2016, the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary is accepting passport application.
Although that’s one excuse scratch off my reasons to go to Vancouver, still I’m happy for the Filipino community. No more sleeping while sitting in the airport to catch the flight or in the bus for more than 10 hours. It is definitely worth the wait.
Where Else Can You Renew the Philippine Passport?
I got this one for you. I’ve written other blog posts about passport renewal and consular outreach program:
- Fil-Canadian: Get a New Philippine Passport in Canada
- How to Renew Philippine Passport in Canada
- How to Renew a Passport in the Philippines
- Find All the Philippine Embassy and Consulate in Canada
- Philippine Consular Outreach Schedule in Canada
- How to Renew Philippine Passport in Vancouver
- Are You Traveling with Expired Philippine Passport
With all the information, I hope you can find the best way to renew your passport. Remember to consider the time, expenses, and the scenery as well.
Don’t forget to enjoy your trip wherever you are planning to renew the passport or whatever the errand is.
For the residents of Calgary at least you can save a lot if you need to get an NBI Clearance and avail the other services.
So that should cheer you up! More good news is coming.
Have you been to the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary? How was it?

Hi Carolyn, I am planning to book an appointment for renewal of my passport in PCG Calgary. Unfortunately, I have an issue on how to secure an “Affidavit that applicant has opted to use maiden name” as listed in the consulate website as one of the requirement for married female applicant who won’t be using there husband’s surname on the passport. It’s a big help if you can help and advice me how to obtain the said document prior to my scheduled appointment since I have to travel far. I’m currently living in Grande Prairie. Thank you.
Carolyn says
You can have a look at the new website of the PCG Consulate. This is the only information that I found regarding maiden surname: “If an applicant’s marriage has been dissolved and wants to revert to her maiden surname . . .” Unfortunately, that’s all I found so far; I hope things will go well.

Hi, Carolyn! I’d like to know if it’s still possible if I’ll just pick up my passport in the Calgary Consulate instead of having it mailed? I live in Edmonton and went to Calgary two weeks ago to have my passport renewed. And since we suddenly moved, I no longer have an access to our old address. If it is possible, do you have any suggestions of what’s the best thing that I should do? Also, how long is the passport renewal process? Thank you!
Carolyn says
Catherine you may call or email the Consulate as soon as possible. I will also pick up my passport in the Consulate on the date written on the recipe. I think it will take between 2 to 3 months to get the new passport. Ask when can you pick up yours before going to the Consulate since we cannot check online anymore if the passport is ready for pick up.
Joan says
Hi! Do you have any idea if I can request at the consulate to make an extension with the validity of my passport? I am a permanent resident of Canada and my Philippine passport will expire February 2019 and I am traveling to the Philippines on December 7, 2018 and be back to Canada January 1, 2019. If so, do I have to make an appointment? Thanks
Carolyn says
The extension of passport validity was discontinued. You could renew your passport in the Philippines since it is advisable to travel with a passport having 6-month validity to avoid any inconvenience at the airports.
Charmine O'Dowd says
Hi I want to report our marriage here in Canada and to be registered in the Philippines, and as I read the payments cost $13.50 for each documents to expedite, and I need to provide 4 copies of each documents like our passport and marriage certificate for the service that I need. My question is do I need to pay $13.50 only for the expedite of my document or $13.50 X 4? Thanks(“,)
Carolyn says
Hi Charmine. I wish the process would only costs C$13.50 and not per document but I’m not sure if it does. OK so that wasn’t much help at all but can you give us an update for those who are also wondering about it. Thanks!!!
Aiton says
Good day.
I would just like to ask how long will it take for my passport to be renewed if I’m gonna travel there and do a walk in. If I’ll be there by July 11 2017 what’s the approximate and the longest/fastest time that they can release my passport for pick up. I have an upcoming travel back to the Philippines by September 1. And is it adviceable if I’m gonna do the renewal here in Calgary and address the delivery in Manila? Will i be able to receive it by the 1st week of September? By the way I’m already a permanent resident of Canada.
Carolyn says
If your passport has more than 6 months of validity and you have time to renew the Philippine passport in Manila then might as well do it there since the processing is faster.
Gladys Atupan says
Hi, I would like to know if our passport are ready to pick up in Calgary Philippine consulate because whenever we are tracking it doesn’t come out or not available. We are just hoping that the passports are there and ready to pick up because we are booked to fly this coming Saturday ( July 8, 2017) evening time. Thanks and please let us know ASAP.
Carolyn says
Hi Gladys. First, I would like to everyone know that I am in no way affiliated or have any contact at the Philippine Consulate General in Calgary. You mentioned something about tracking. Is it Canada Post? Try to check on the website again and clear your cache/browsing history. You probably called already or sent an email and haven’t received any response if so you can try to search online on the PCG to find out if your name is on the list of passports that were mailed already or to be claimed. Hope you get your passport soon and can you keep us posted. Thanks for dropping by.
jas says
Nobody answers the contact no above. Dual citizenship application was already in process for 4mos
Gellai says
Hey, i wanna make an appointment for the renewal of my mom
Passport but i couldnt find the website..
Thanks
Carolyn says
Hi Gellai. The PCG in Calgary doesn’t have a website. To make an appointment you can send an email or call; click here for more details.
Faith says
Hi, we are going on vacation this coming December 2016, about 6weeks holiday. My kids are canadian citizen. Do we need to get a visa for them? If, where and how much? Thank you
Carolyn says
Hi Faith. This is what I found regarding visa for Canadian citizen from the Philippine Consulate General in Toronto: “For a stay in the Philippines for more than 30 days, Canadians may apply for a 59-day tourist visa, valid for a single entry.” For more information, I suggest you to contact the consulate.
Gwyn says
Hi there! Would like to know if our Philippines consulate here in Calgary is processing an application for my Filipino- Canadian dual citizenship. If yes, can you please direct me how and what are the docs needed and the cost involved? I’m travelling in MArch and would like to have it done prior.
Thanks so much.
Carolyn says
Gwyn, this post has a list of passport, notarial, and other services. And the good news is the processing for dual citizenship (R.A. 9225-Principal) is part of the services; The fee is $ 67.50 for principal and $33.75 for dependent. When it comes to the requirements, you can give the consulate a call or an email.
